1896

January 16 A meeting held at the Town Hall which interesting addresses on the life and works of the great poetess were given by Mr. Rider HAGGARD, Mr. M. BIDDULPH. M.P. (who presided). Lady Elizabeth BIDDULPH, the Bishop of Hereford. Mr. RANKIN, M.P., Mr. C. W. R. COOKE, M.P., the Rev. Preb. MADDISON GREEN, the Rev. C. Y. POTTS, &c.

March 18 In the evening the Rev. C. Y. POTTS (who had recently been elected chairman of the Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, embracing North Somerset, Congregational Union) delivered a lecture in the Mission Hall, on “The Reformation in England."

June 9 The first Meeting of the newly elected School Board was held. The Rev. C. E. M. GREEN was re-elected Chairman, and the Rev. C. Y POTTS was elected to the Vice-Chair. At the same meeting it was decided by a majority of one, that the Apostles’ Creed should no longer be taught in the Schools.

December 6 During the week, a successful Temperance Mission was held in Ledbury and Eastnor. Lady Henry SOMERSET, Rev. Henry S.SANDERS, Rev. C. Y. POTTS, and Mr. BRAMBLEY (Bristol), being amongst the speaker.s

March 15 At the Annual Meeting of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Congregational Union, at Hereford, the Rev. C. Y. POTTS gave the annual address as Chairman.

1900

May 19 Six Candidates nominated for seven seats on the Ledbury School Board -Rev. Preb. MADDISON GREEN (Rector), Rev. C. Y. POTTS, Messrs. S. H. BICKHAM, C. W. STEPHENS, H. BRAY, and J. BOYD. Mr. G. BEST was subsequently elected by the Board, the Rector was re-elected Chairman, and Rev. C. Y. POTTS Vice-chairman.

October 10 Meeting of the Ledbury and Newent District Free Church Council, at the Congregational Church. President: Rev. C. Y. POTTS.

October 29 The Rev. C. Y. POTTS lectured on “Reminiscences of English History in the 19th century,” in connection with the Ledbury Debating Society, at the Barrett Browning Institute.
1902

November 14 Lecture by the Rev. C. Y. POTTS on “Earthquakes and Volcanoes" to the Members of the Reading Room and Library.

November 27 L.O.G.T. District Quarter Session at the Baptist Chapel: Entertainment by “the Rev. C. Y. POTTS" Temple.

December 4 Ledbury Congregational Church Anniversary, and on the following Sunday Rev. C. Y. POTTS, who has been pastor of the Church for over 36 years, preached.
