Phil Cooke lived there for years...PP

Uncle Phils old house, used to be a faggot and pea shop before Uncle Phil and Aunty Win moved in. It belonged to the old ladies who lived at Abbey House next door, Phil moved to the flats by the baths after, closer to Dick DANIELS cider shed lol, they were there for 30 years I believe...KC

Can remember Phil living there, think it had stable type door...RS

I used to take Belinda to visit Win and Phil when she was a baby in the pram we did this for many years, Belindas got many happy memories of them, Win was always knitting beautiful baby cardigans for her, happy days with Win and Phil...JJ

One final footnote they had a lodger, called George I think, smoked a pipe he was there for years, and yes it had a stable door. Old Granny Cooke Phils mum use to love sitting by it talking to old mates when she came to Ledbury from Callow Eend in the 50s and early 60s...KC

Yes I can remember dear old Phil he was a right old character, the black & white place just above was where Miss Ballard lived my dad went there gardening on a Saturday...AM

I can remember going in to see Win with mum when I was little...FP

It did have a outside wc and tin bath and a raise garden to the rear, three down stairs rooms and bedrooms on two floors...KC

Just shows how taste's have changed in the past 100 years or so, it was all the people could afford in those days, Churchill's the butcher's were far to expensive for the ordinary man, no waste in those days!, most people kept a pig or two for their families to eat, and the only thing that they did not eat was the grunt, and the pigs themselves lived on kitchen scraps etc, waste not want not ...KC
