ANNUAL REPORT
The Hon. Secretary read the report and balance sheet for the past session. The total number of students attending was 149: Drawing 20, French 15, Art Needlework 28, Shorthand 43, Arithmetic 17, Cookery 17, Carpentry 10. The number of students who made 75 per cent or over, of the possible attendance was 82. (Loud applause). Of the students who sat the examination of the Union of Education
Institutions, 13 gained first class certificates, and 22 second class - 35 in all. (Applause). Nearly all of those who gained certificates are those who attended the classes regularly and I cannot impress upon the students and their parents too much the importance of attending regularly; to those students making attendance of 75 per cent, or over the fees paid by them are returned to them, and to those who obtain certificates 3s. is given for a 1st class and 2s for a second class.
The balance sheet showed that the amount of fees paid by students was £24 14s. goods sold from cookery class was £2 1s. 2d. paid to Hereford County Council £11 7s. 2d., fees returned students £15 8s. Subscriptions to the prize fund amounted to £10 17s. 2d. and included in this sum £4 14s. 8d. were the proceeds of the Sunflower Minstrel entertainment. Owing to the Treasurer £1 14s., postages, etc. 2s. prizes (1913-14) £4 3s.; balance in hand £4 18s. 2d.
In moving the adoption of the annual report the Chairman said he had often remarked that no meeting over which he presided gave him so much pleasure as this one did. He took a great interest in education, more especially in the secondary education of those young people who had gathered together that evening. Before he formally moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet perhaps he might be allowed to say a few words. It was a matter of great congratulation that the classes had gone on so satisfactorily as had been the case during the past year, and that they had been quite as satisfactory as in the previous year. When 82 students made 75 per cent., three quarters of the attendance they possibly could make, and 18 never missed once, it spoke volumes for those who attended the classes. (Hear, hear and applause). He did not think he could say a great deal about any particular class because they all seemed to have gone on satisfactorily. As usual, the shorthand came out with the largest number of scholars, namely, 42 The Art Needlework Class came out very well indeed, owing to MISS SMITHS ability in the teaching of it, the number of scholars being 28.
The Chairman proceeded to refer to the balance sheet, which he described as being satisfactory. (Applause).
The Rev. F. W. CRANEGY seconded, and briefly associated himself with the remarks made by the Chairman.
The report was adopted.

The Committee were re-elected as follows: - LADY BIDDULPH, Hon. MISS BIDDULPH, MRS CARNEGY, MISS. C. E. BALLARD, MR. S. H. BICKHAM, MR. W. J. BOYD, REV. F. W. CARNEGY, MR. T. S. S. GARDNER, MR. F. W. MR. HAMBIN seconded, and it was agreed to.
In proposing the re-election of MR. W. P. BARRY as honorary secretary and treasurer, the Chairman observed that no one, perhaps, knew better than he did the amount of trouble and pains it cost as honorary secretary and treasurer to look after the work which the classes entailed. MR. BARRY had done everything in his power to encourage the work and had acted very admirably indeed. They could not possible do better if so well, without the services of MR. BARRY - (hear, hear, and applause) - and he (the Chairman) proposed that he be re-elected for the coming year with hearty thanks for the past services. (Renewed applause).

PRESENTATION
The Chairman said he had been told that there was yet another prize to be awarded and he would call upon MR LAWRENCE to ask LADY COLVILLE to make the presentation.
MR LAWRENCE, in so doing, said that last year he had the pleasure of moving a vote of thanks to their hon. secretary and treasurer for the great work he performed and which he greatly deserved. At the meeting MR BARRY said he had only done his duty, but the committee thought it would be appropriate to mark their appreciation in a more tangible form and he now asked LADY COLVILLE to present MR BARRY with a silver mounted walking-stick, suitably inscribed. (Applause).
Amidst great enthusiasm, LADY COLVILLE presented the gift to MR BARRY as a memorial of the committee's appreciation of the valuable services he had rendered. (Loud applause). The stick was inscribed as follows:-
" Presented to MR. W. P. BARRY by the Committee of the Ledbury Evening Classes. August 1914. The initials W.P.B. were inscribed on a separate silver band." MR BARRY briefly returned thanks and assured the donors that the gift came as a great surprise to him.

THANKS
In proposing a warm vote of thanks to LADY COLVILLE for her presence there that evening, and for her kindness in presenting the awards, the Rector said her Ladyship took a deep interest in everything concerning the town, and they were all exceedingly grateful to her for attending their gathering. All prizes received that evening had been earned and well earned. Additional value had been given to them in the eyes of the recipients by reason of the fact that they had received them at the hands of LADY COLVILLE. (Applause). MR BARRY would also value his stick all the more because LADY COLVILLE had presented it to him. (Hear, hear). The Chairman seconded, saying that he felt sure that the motion would be carried with the greatest acclamation.
LADY COLVILLE, in reply, said she felt keenly interested in all that concerned the town, especially from an educational standpoint. She hoped the instruction the young people were at present receiving would give them great pleasure throughout their lives. (Hear, hear and applause).
MR. F. N. WHEATON proposed a vote of thanks to MR. BICKHAM for presiding and spoke of the great interest the Chairman took in everything that concerned the welfare of the town.
MR LAWRENCE seconded, and the motion was heartily carried.
MR. BICKHAM, in reply, assured those present that if he could in any shape or form help on education in the town they could rely on him to do all that lay in his power in that direction. (Loud applause).
This concluded the proceedings which had been very enthusiastic throughout.
